Marie Sharp's BEWARE Comatose Heat Level Habanero Pepper Sauce

What the bottle says...
Warning XXXXX Heat Level. For connoisseurs of extreme heat and quality sauces only! All other beware. Great for cooking. Flavor soups, sauces and stir fries or add to boiled water for rice, pasta or boiled seafood.

What we say...
Marie Sharp's sauces are made in the foothills of the Mayan Mountains of Belize using old-fashioned methods and the freshest locally grown ingredients. So with this in mind, it's little wonder that they taste so good and are so highly regarded.

This is a very hot sauce indeed - it was named the winner of 1999 highest scoville award in New Mexico. Now we do acknowledge that was some time ago and hot sauces have come a long way since then with the discovery of the mighty Naga Jolokia and the widespread use of extract in sauces to take them to another hellish heat level. All that said, this is still a very very hot sauce that pure chilli hellfire, backed up with flavour. Use sparingly as an additive and have milk to hand.

Well so far i've tried several of the Marie Sharp's branded hot sauces and none of them have failed to impress. The recepies they use are spot on. I would however like to say that the name and warning given on some of them like this one probably isn't warranted as I did'nt find them as hot as they make out. It was a comfortable hotness depending on how much you have. The taste was great. I've had it with fish and chips, lamb burgers and chicken burgers and also Samosa's. Great with most things. Def one for my regular list. I however failed to be able to tell a difference in taste between this one and the Marie sharps Fiery Hot Habernero Pepper Sauce & Marie Sharp's No Wimps Allowed. All 3 seemed to taste the same with the Marie Sharps Fiery Hot Habernero Pepper Sauce seemign to be the hottest even though it is rated lower than this one on Scorchio. Either way you can't go wrong with the Marie Sharp's branded hot sauce in my book...

Not that hot this one. Certainly got a kick, but maybe 3 rather than 5 stars. Nowhere near the realms of Dave's Insanity for example. Marie Sharps you can swig from the bottle - I wouldn't recommend that with Dave's unless you have an ambulance on hand.Having said that, this has a really nice flavour, and you can happily empty a deluge onto your food in the same way that you would Encona for example to make a delicious spicy feast...
