El Yucateco sauces are perfect in their simplicity. Take the freshest Habanero peppers grown in Yucatan Mexico, grind them up, add a few choice herbs and spices and you have Mexican heat in a bottle. This is the hottest of the range and has an exquisite long slow Habanero burn with plenty of fresh pepper flavour.

Ingredients: Habanero peppers, vinegar, tomato, salt, spices and 0.1% sodium benzoate as preservative.

I agree, not the hottest by any means, however, I agree with the last 2 reviews, the freshness of the chillies and the kick makes this one to watch. A friend brought me a couple of bottles from Mexico, I finished 1 at work as a dip for crisps. Great to see that it is getting easier to find in the UK. :)

Since I’m almost done with this bottle it’s time for a review. I have to say I'm rather disappointed with this sauce. I wasn't expecting to much since it's a cheap sauce. I did read some “reviews” that said it’s a must try but they weren’t to clear on the taste or heat. Firstly the heat: It’s disappointing. The manufacturer rates it at 11.600SHU and I have to say it sure doesn’t feel like it. It’s hotter than Tabasco that’s for sure, but not really that much hotter. I would say in reality it’s closer to 7000-8000SHU. The heat is nice and constant and doesn’t stay to long. Usually it will dissipate within five to ten minutes. Secondly the taste: Utter disappointment (at least to me). You can’t taste any spice nor are the chillies nice and fruity. It just feels like a harsh Habanero paste. I have to say that the consistency is really good though. It's a medium thick sauce that pours really well. I found it only good for barbecue meat. It’s just to harsh for everything else. But it does add nice flavour once it’s been used as sort of marinade on the meat. Overall it’s an OK sauce that should be tried by the serious “Chilliheads” but not something I would personally buy again. It’s an good beginner sauce if you’ve only tried Tabasco so far. Nice burn if you use a full spoon but the taste is lacking.

This sauce is not very hot at all - but it does have a fantastic flavour. I used it VERY liberally on sandwiches and really enjoyed it.

Brought a few bottles of this back from Mexico (along with the jalapeno version). One was for me, and the others were gifts for Chilli-head friends. It really is good stuff. Not a stupid amount of heat, but a good, long, tasty burn. Enough to give your burger a kick in the right direction. Good for an everyday sauce. Now I don't have to travel to Mexico to get my hands on it.
