Melinda's Naga Jolokia Hot Sauce
What the bottle says... Melinda's Original Naga Jolokia Pepper Sauce is pure heat. Our hottest offering by far, the Naga Jolokia is confirmed by the Guinness Book of Records to be the hottest chilli in the world (1041,427 Scoville Units), unseating the Red Savina for the title. Also known as the Bhut Jolokia (Ghost Chile), the Raja Mirchi (King Chile) and the Naga Morich, this chile is grown primarily in the Northeastern region of India. The names are different depending on region, however, one thing remains the same - these peppers are hot and should be consumed with caution.
What we say... We love the Naga Jolokia, particularly the subtle flavour which really is like no other chilli, and our favourite sauces manage to capture this flavour as well as the heat. This definitely fits the bill. Absolutely crammed with proper chunks of fresh Naga (it's main ingredient!) and sweetened with papaya and passion fruit this ranks as one of the finest Naga Sauces we have tasted and is a real testament to the quality of Melindas sauces as a whole.
The fresh Naga flavour (and heat) in this sauce is strong enough to cut through most food so it can certainly be used to spice up your favourite meal, but for a real capsaicin induced head-rush combined with exquisite flavour you've got to use this stuff neat, as one hell of a hot condiment. Mind you we've been at this a while and can take the heat, so do approach with caution.
