A small, bright red chilli packed with heat. Used extensively in Asian cooking and an essential ingredient in Thai curries, these small chillies are mainly grown in Africa and are also known as Zanzibar or African Devil Chillies.

We also recommend using this dried pepper to flavour oils and vinegars as it releases its flavour easily.

African Bird's Eye Chilies are nearly as hot as Habaneros, but have a nice taste, unlike the acid content of the habaneros. They are similar to Thai Bird Chile in flavor, but hotter. They can be added whole to Olive Oil, chopped and added to stews & soups, or dried and roasted w/o oil to give them a nutty smoky flavor and then ground to a powder to be added to many dishes. They are easily grown in a warm climate and form a 3 1/2' bush that continually throws out blossoms and new peppers that must be picked weekly. Of all the peppers we have grown, this is the most hardy bush. They can quickly overgrow a small bed and must be given room to grow. 3-4 bushes will keep you and all your friends in all the chilies they ever will need. Just tell them to use 2-3 only in a dish that would normally require 10-12 ordinary store bought chilies or they will overpower the curry or stew they are preparing
